[edit2] hahaha look what I found, old TuLLs page is still alive
http://utenti.multimania.it/prozac69/
besides Temp, Sunny and Sgok the rest of us had created fake identities for the lulz (I was proZac, Istvan as Gaelahad if I ain't wrong, I can't remeber who majk was among these fake IDs lol, either Remorhaz or Zuthromax).
Yes BS clans was in WMD "watch me die" that was the greatest , we'll we all had bs clans back then remember scaring sages aways with such noob tactics the bs clans brought to clear them out. was also in a large guild at the end CHUR and we usally out numbered all the clans 3 to 1 wasn't the best idea but we had fun. UH was also a big clan that usally out numbered all the other clans.was great we where able to get a large scale ctf match to work they beat us and won the CTF Cup.
Checking that link reminds me i ripped Sun1burn name off long time ago i go by ____1burn aswell would say but the name is always open on everything i register make sure to keep it that way.

you would have sucked and lost.
gyz I only asked where you were from to verify you were actually gyz, but you did plenty of that following the post
also I'm disappointed thta you MUST be pretending not to remember 'daZe' considering you and istvan bailed on daZe after months of loyalty during like the last 2 weeks of the last month that Sages existed (it was sagesX at that time too, huh?)

I recall being in daZe, I can't recall how long I've been in it though... I do remember switching from daZe to Sages when Psy went ballistic and hacked both the website and the board though, still I recall keeping a good relationship with Psy and the others despite the clan switch anyway, I usually never had any arguement with anyone. The only person whom I had arguements on a regular basis was darkVirus because of his cocky attitude, and yet we were still pretty much good friends at the end of the day, hehe.
I know for sure I was in !Euro! from like... december 2000 to atleast march/april 2001, because that's basically how long the clan lasted until most of the members went inactive, Albabu and DJ joined Sages and me and Istvan joined daZe, given that I was already in real good terms with Psy since a couple of months (since he was in Ember basically) and he pretty much invited us as he knew !Euro! was dissolving. But then he kind of lost it in June and well you know what happened with all that mess. I don't regret being in daZe at all, it's just that the clan's reputation got pretty much fucked up the moment Psy snapped. Considering DJ and Alb were already in Sages by then it wasn't a bad idea to basically reform the core of the previous !Euro! clan inside Sages.
Fun fact, Albabu would often stick around with us euros despite the fact he's american (his ping was pretty good in euro servers). In my opinion he also likely had the best wizard of all time. I never had any trouble against other wizards, but Alb's wizzy was like... totally nuts.
And this is one of the cool things I do remember from Nox old days: each wizard had like some sort of trademark playing style. Masta Mage was the first player to introduce that way of circling around the opponent and D-Raying, Temp would often teleport/drain/energy bolt, Tom Green used Confusion A LOT (i recall a lot of people complaining about that), Apprentice loved using Anchor and basically just drain the opponent's mana and defend with reflective shield until he had full certainty he would win the fight, Majk used the Run spell a lot, SADPlayer was all about using the triple fireball staff+ring of fire and traps, Zee would use Slow+Confusion back when he had a not so great connection and was still able to run and d-ray despite the lag, Puffy liked to use Fumble a lot... as for me I learned my style from DJ, it was similar to Masta Mage's way of playing wiz with the exception that I would teleport around, use Inverse and cut straight on the opponent's back with D-Ray+Shock rather than simple run around like Masta used to do. And Alb's wiz style... he was purely reflexes based, he would litterally kill you while you're running (with no Slow or other spells cast) with D-Ray from like the other side of the screen, then teleport and land an other D-Ray as the teleport animation had just ended. I learned a damn lot from just playing against Alb's wiz but I could never emulate him because he was just that unpredictable when trying to figure from what side he would approach and how he would move around you.
Then as time passed most of these styles began to converge into pretty much one/two main styles, depending on whether one would play in a deathmatch/team deathmatch or duel. But generally it was possible to make a distinction between wizzies who preferred mobility/speed in order to teleport and move around in order to death-ray opponents on the run, and wizzies with a more defensive approach that would use anchor+slow/confusion+mana drain in order to litterally make the opponent unable to hurt before proceeding in finishing them off.
Good times, I'm amazed that I am slowly beginning to remember more and more details. Makes me really want to try and make this game work again on my current pc just for the sake of recalling what it used to be like =)

I too like hearing the history. It makes sense you guys would bail after Psy systematically deleted everyone from the clan. I stayed up the entire night that night with Psy, talking to him as he did it.

I have never had confuse in my sets, ever, and very rarely swap slow into one of my second sets...

Uhm, I do remember you would use a second spell combined with slow though... I thought it was confuse but I guess my memory ain't so infallible. Tom Green did use Confuse though, that I can say with 100% certainty since I clearly remember people ranting about that, haha.
While reminiscing some of the clan history I also recalled an other good euro player that I think was in daZe as well (or atleast he did join one of Psy's clans), Firestorm, from the UK. He used warrior class and was actually the quiet kind of guy, not too talkative either, but still pretty damn solid.
Oh and @nolimit12: I do remember CHUR! I can't remember all of the players who were part of that clan but I do remember it being a clan with cool and nice people. !Chur!Happy was the clan leader, right?
Oh and I just remembered an other cool guy, Paulwipe! Awesome conjurer! He used to hang around a lot with Psy.

Sup!
I think Berry's alias in TuLLs was Sstelam... yeah that was her "troll" nickname, hehe.

In the USA ladder servers many spells were eventually considered 'gay' and shunned by the elite wizards - mom, run, confuse, fumble, swap+trap (fuck you [DoD]Quinn). I wasn't initially held to any standards since my ping sucked, but as an awkward teen desiring social acceptance, I typically avoided the taboo spells once I got cable... Unless of course TuLLs was in need of some ratio improvement.
Thanks for the anecdotes, Gyz. I would never have remembered all those names on my own. Sun1 was my CTF ZUEL-hunting partner prior to TuLLs - great guy. Albabu was pretty much the archetype for what the top wizards would eventually become after the fall of Westwood: Players that relied almost exclusively on fast/continuous mobility/teleportation and pin-point death ray accuracy rather than spells. He was ahead of his time. I don't know if any of you spent time playing with a cocky/immature wizard named Gnomish66, but there was a full year's time where we would work together milking the Wall spell for all its creative worth.

Gnomish66!
That's Apprentice's westwood online nickname, thanks for reminding me of it!
Yeah Gnom/Apprentice was basically the "tactical" kind of wizzy, as I said he would focus first on trying to disable opponents (anchor, slow, mana drain while defending himself with RS+inlvun) and now you made me recall him also using Wall when trying to trap them from simply running away once he knew he could go for the kill. His D-Ray skills were pretty good but he wasn't the mobility/teleport/d-ray kind of wiz like Alb, me or Masta or darkVirus used to be...I competed against him in the february solo ladder in 2001 (he won january), I ended up winning by a short difference as he would litterally spend almost a full day playing and challenging pretty much anybody (which kind of looked as if he was farming points/ratio but he atleast wouldn't refuse playing against me or other potential rivals for the solo ladder).
and lol@Quinn, I remember the guy having a not so great reputation, his clan was also pretty damn old (if I am not wrong they existed basically since the very beginning, I recall seeing him and his clan mates in the team deathmatch servers during the DP/Embers/BK era ). And Zuel ... correct me if I am wrong but wasn't he the guy who would self-proclaim to be the best wizzy around?
Oh and I don't think "MoM" was that cheap. I mean using it once to get the killing blow on a d-rayed opponent was pretty much a normal and legit approach if you couldn't get close enough to use e-bolt or shock. Spamming it was considered to be lame, but then again all it was needed was inverse or RS and "Momers" would soon lose that habit...
Besides, while certain spells could feel cheap, looking at them right now I think all tactics could be considered legit. Afterall people were competing in clan ladder or solo ladder, can't complain some would try to use their own way of getting as much kills as possible in what they thought was the most efficient way. And in any case good wizzies knew how to counter some of that "bullshit" anyway. =)

I suppose the fact that you learned from DV and I learned from Gnomish would explain our opposing styles.
Clan [DoD] was started up pretty early on. Quinnman's style was to pick a location, set traps everywhere, and either wait patiently for someone to run into one or try and swap them onto one. He wouldn't willingly participate in an open fight and would blink away when confronted - Hence why you would frequently see him in deathmatch games. That said, he always seemed like a nice guy.
And yes, ZUEL was the egomaniacal USA CTF troll. He had a mediocre ping of 200 and was a well rounded player. For some reason I always suspected he was one of Zee's alter-egos. Not that I thought you were a megalomaniac, Zee, just that he had a similar style and I never saw you two in the same game.
