I was considered a sort of waveform originating from the base of the blade extending to the tip.

Remember all effects will happen at the blade of the weapon. Not the whole weapon.

So a hammer would have all effect as the blunt of the hammer. Maces at the head. etc

Hmm. Could add a slight glow to the blade make the effect a little more visible. Of course they would have to be on the "business end" of the weapons, no one wants to hold something thats electrocuted or on fire.
