Any mail donations, please write your alias on a peice of paper on the inside of the envelope, OR on the front. This will allow me to keep track of donations and return any money that is either not needed, or required returned (perma bans will receive any donations back..temp bans of 1 week or longer will receive their last donation back).

Since its a public issue, i'm making it a public choice.

The dedicated server could fix its framerate lag that appears every now and then if the video card was swapped out for a 128mb video card. The current 16mb card can't support the minimal drawing for 3 or more nox servers without frame lag sometimes.

This video card upgrade would cost $20 more a month, i'm allready paying $156 a month for the server.

soooooooo.....a $20 a month total donation would add a new video card to the server. Thats just $1 for 20 people, or $2 for 10.

comments? Its been awhile since the server has started, I figure its about time to broach the whole donation topic. I'm not going to stop supporting the server, but if I ever run into financial trouble then it will run the risk of going down. Donations would solve that and take a bit of the responsability and place it back into the communities hands.

Donations would be good, $156/month is a lot for one person to handle.

I do question whether the video card is the problem. Only one instance of Nox is in the foreground at one time, so why would it use the video card for more than just that one instance? Also, in server only mode, the amount of drawing is practically nil. If it was a video card issue, wouldn't this affect the performance more consistently rather than just sometimes?

I don't want donations from someone that doesn't play the game teddy...thusly you are now required to play again.

I'm currently setting up a paypal that can be donated do by check or credit card or bank account or direct paypal.

Also all the servers are still windowed mode zoedk, they just max when hosted, but its still windowed mode and if you set them to tile you can see all the windows at once. So it still calls the draw on each window.

I really don't have to PM anything, i'm not really scared of anyone on here.

I edited the first post to have my address.

I will keep a running tab of anything donated along with the donators name on the forum. Might even set up a donation list, (allthough I don't think i'll show the ammounts donated, that'll keep embarrassment out of it).

Milo, I know you have very little/no money, this is not mandatory, and since you cant even buy yourself a new $1 mic, well....you are VERY far from required to donate.


PS. Vegitarian Nachos would be a good alternative to actual money....or a trip to your country if you don't live in the USA. I wouldn't mind spending some time in...say...russia (WOMEN THERE ARE HOTT!!!).




*EDIT* Also I took on that Ultima server so it could aid the donations. The players of that game have a long runnning history of donating to free shards and I could get some server upgrades to support it and NoX. That has deterioated he quality of the nox servers by a small ammount (the Ultima shard is around 600 mbs of RAM). However that is only because of the video card as far as I can tell. I noticed the hardware accell on the card was set low and I raised it, improved the nox servers by quite a bit. This is why i'm thinking a new vid card would be good.
