Title: Router Help/Setup and FAQs
Post by: Zoa on January 02, 2005, 03:14:06 am
This is by far the most popular problem I have seen on Nox, so I have put together a list of links that should help anyone that is having a problem. You need to know two things: 1. Router brand and model; 2. Router password.

Linksys 1 (http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=143&p_created=1084204586&p_sid=VnYZcnuh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPXNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMT0mcF9wcm9kX2x2bDI9JnBfc2NmX2xhbmc9MSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWRteg**&p_li=)
or
Linksys 2 (http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=728&p_created=1084220269&p_sid=VnYZcnuh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPXNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMT0mcF9wcm9kX2x2bDI9JnBfc2NmX2xhbmc9MSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWRteg**&p_li=) (Start at number 4, and on number 8 use your computer's IP]

DLink (http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1212&question=dmz)

Has you can see I only have a few manufactors in here. So, if your manufactor isn't listed and you need help, please post a reply using this thread and give us your router brand and model.

For this you will need to find your IP. To do this look at the following site:
FInd your IP Address (http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1372) (This link is on DLink's site, but it applies to all routers and configurations.)

Hey, I need some huge help from one of you pros with hosting. I have a dlink 614+ router. I need to know how to host with it, without touching the DMZ option. I need the port numbers. It would make me very happy if somebody lent me some help here.

3.5.8.

UDP port

Nox retail servers use UDP port 18590.  Official Nox servers use ports 18590 - 18599.  For those of you behind proxies/firewalls or using NAT, Consult your network administrator or your documentation for details on configuring your system to connect to Nox.

Therefore read your router instructions and if you cant find it there then try

*18590 (im 95% sure this port will work.)

Or if you dont want hardly any hassle then download Port Magic from this site

http://www.download.com/3302-2085_4-10210979.html
You can buy this software or download it and use the free trial, or maybe you can find a crack for it but its simple to use allowing you to open your ports or close them with simple clicks of the mouse.

no, or atleast not with a proxy server that I know of.

go to www.download.com and search for it, you will find an alive link. If you still have trouble I will find you another link or you can contact me and I can send you the program.

I actually believe there is a way you can play behind a proxy but... I forget how i might look into it.

You can use the trial version and it will still work as for cracks or keys be carefully for what site/shareware you search many contain trojains and virus's....

Grokster is another shareware program like kaaza or winmx
(may contain spyware)

Residential Gateway is like... I think its like the default gateway on your computer or router ip... you might have a dynamic ip address for your router  im not sure ill look into it.

I'll ad a comment to about the port forwarding

This is something d00der helped me with, I couldn't host when I had a router. this is what he told me:

»Go to the settings of your router
»Go tot general setup
»Check the NAT options
»Check PORT FORWARDING
»Fill in your PRIVATE IP, the TYPE (UDP) and the PORT RANGE (18590 for NoX)

»Enable it«

Hope I helped some people who couldn't do anything with the DMZ thingie.

(and I hope this is all correct, tell me if I'm wrong but these are the things I had to do with me router )

Ok, so I know I'm using Linksys.

I attempted to do what the instructions on those sites asked, but after attempting the first step of entering my ip into the adress bar all I got was a "page cannot be displayed" and nothing else. My connection is wireless if that might have anything to do with anything here. Any kind of help would be appreciated. If you need any more info just ask, I will answer as soon as I can.

I have a working Port Magic Crack! i will put up download here, and instructions. (Instructions also in .Zip file)

HOW TO CRACK PORT MAGIC:

1) Delete the Port Magic Shortcut on your Desktop.

2) Place the 'Arn.exe' file in the same folder Portmagic.exe is in (Normally C:\Program Files\Port Magic)

3) Create a Shortcut From the 'Arn.exe' file that you just placed in the same folder Portmagic.exe is in, and place it on the            Desktop.

4) Now it's cracked, but theres one more thing left to do. Run that shortcut, then go to 'Options' and Untick (if it hasn't already)     'Start Port Magic When Computer Starts' or something like that.

Now, everytime you want to run Port Magic (as the full version) Use the shortcut you made earlier (The one that directs             to 'Arn.exe')

3.5.8.

UDP port

Nox retail servers use UDP port 18590.  Official Nox servers use ports 18590 - 18599.  For those of you behind proxies/firewalls or using NAT, Consult your network administrator or your documentation for details on configuring your system to connect to Nox. (Allow all traffic to all destinations. Necessary for peer-to-peer connections and game play)

Hosting with router- 2 options: Port Foward or Enable DMZ

PORT FORWARD OPTION

1.Gather information (Router Brand/Model, USERNAME, PASSWORD, DEFAULT GATEWAY)
2. To find default gateway- Start your command prompt- start>run>command or cmd then type "ipconfig"
Should see Default Gateway Ip: NUMBERS- Write down the numbers.
3. Find username and passwords- Defaults are Username: Admin -----  Password: Password or Username: Blank Password: Admin
4.) Reset router if you dont have access- reset router by button or unplugging shit.
5. Go to http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm find your Brand/Model and then there should be a list of application and games, choose nox. - Follow the instructions and enter in nox's udp port 18590

ENABLE DMZ OPTION

Basically in your router options look for WAN SET UP or something similar. Check the Enable DMZ option and enter in your default gateway ip in the blank. This will make your computer really vurnarable though.

If you have windows xp and above your computers firewall can block nox hosting. Make sure you have the port open / a firewall exception for nox.

Then you probably aren't entering the correct IP for your router. You should be able to look it up through ipconfig.

Start -> Run
Type "cmd" and press Enter
Type "ipconfig" and press Enter

This will list all of your network devices. Find that one that is associated with your wireless device and look for the phrase "Default Gateway." To the right of this will be an IP address, probably starting with 192.168. This should be the IP of your router and the IP that you need to go to in your web browser.

so alot of sources say port 18590 is needed for nox but the site listed in common problems "portforward.com" says this -
-Netgear wgr614v7 - Nox -:
We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Nox requires you to forward the 1234-1237,3840,4005,4808,4810,4995,7000-7002 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Custom Services menu and then click Apply

...it doesn't mention the 18590.. so after i opened all the above i was finally able to get some koreans to join :-( but not sure if usa ppl will get the time out error when they try to join..

ok it seems that every one can join my games!!

18590 is the port american servers use, maybe korean servers use a different default port. However you can specify what port you want to use in the shortcut with -port

Actually scratch that, I know for a fact that korean servers use 18590 too, I used to send my bot into their servers to talk to them.

While you can try enabling DMZ, if it works it means theres ports you forgot or picked TCP OR UDP wrong. Don't leave DMZ enabled permanently, it's a security risk.

I also am having the same problem as him. I entered in all those numbers and tried 2 different IP addresses with them. I also tried the 18590 number also. Any suggestions? I use to be able to host. Not sure why i cant now. Are there any other settings on my router that could effect this, like whether im open or shared? what channel im on? Thanks.

EDIT: Would DMZ guarantee that I can host if i put my IP in?

Okay, before you enabled it you made sure that the ip listed matched your ip? Sometimes mine is a digit off and I have to correct it. If it didn't work that is the only error I can think of.

why are you forwarding to two internal ip's ? are you dual boxing? Even if you host with two computers all the players that join will be joining the first one that is up. (Your essentially hosting two servers with the same External IP)

Oh also keep in mind that Nox's process name is actually Game.exe

After forwarding ports, you will be able to host an ordinary server which you can put a password on and give to your friend.

if you are using hamachi, your friend must use hamachi.
if you are using westwood online your friend needs to use westwood online

if you are still having problems then use the link i gave you and instead find it using your router (this will fill your spaces in)

The screen shot he had was a router config trying to open ports (I assume).

Then he asks how to fill in the blanks. I threw him a link that would show him how with his router (different games use different ports).

I think i understand fairly well thanks. I'm not a networking hulk so i can't really help more than this.

I do exactly what it tells me, and when it doesnt work, i try to take what it says in a different context (just like priests with the bible lol). I think if you go to portfowarding.com, choose your router/model, it will give you instructions possibly with pictures.

double checked and did some tinkering. checked with portchecker and now it appears to work. all thats left is to do a test...
Posted on: October 26, 2009, 05:43:21 PM
it doesnt work. i double checked if all ports were open with port checker. they are all open. there were ctegories "computer name", and "application name" that i didnt fill in becasue it didnt tell me what to put there. but i put the ip as the ip it told me to put on portchecker. I've done everything right from the portforwarding site.

So if "port checker" says its correct why are you saying it didn't work? How did you test it

I went into nox and i waited for people to join my server. thats the best test i can do. unless they were koreans and timed out because of fail ping, or canceled connecting before it actaully connected, then it didnt work. and none of the servers were up, so i didnt think they would do that. it never gave me a message saying that they timed out or anything... however i will test it again to make sure

So what if no one tried to join your server and you just assumed they did try?

Post by: n0x on October 27, 2009, 09:35:04 pm
it said people were trying to join i think its paging. it kept saying  paged by user *(random user)

*it didnt say that.
Posted on: October 27, 2009, 05:09:52 PM
these are my ports that ARE open.

they are from two different places but thats where it told me to put them on http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/WBR-2310/Nox.htm

Hey, sorry I have not been around again, I moved once more and just got my internet back. Now, I have DSL and am having a difficult time trying to host again. This is bullshit because I have the modem plugged straight into my computer. I have searched here and Google for possible problems, but I think this kind of modem is too new. Its a Westell ProLine Model F90-610025-06. I tried changing it to having a public IP, which idk if that does anything, but it didn't work. Whatever I look up online about it, the modem page (192.168....) is a different layout than what I'm inquiring about, and there is no option to forward port through. There is options for the PPP and doing "Bridging" but I don't know about that shit and don't want to fuck it up. Any ideas? (aside from getting cable)

I know this is some what old, but for future reference. Those trying to host using Windows 7 may want to try and turn off their firewall through the services.

Just search services, then choose the gear picture icon.
Should bring up a long list of windows services.
Scroll down to Windows Firewall
Right click=>Properties>Startup type>Disable.

Now try and host bitches.

Philly when you approach girls at college do you just wing it? Or do you only meet people through your social circle? (lame)

College has hotties but I don't wanna shit where I eat.

EDIT
I got rid of the "LoL" because it sounded faggy.

Lately I've been mostly within my social circle because I haven't been able too since my fucked up schedule so I've been meeting more chicks through them. but

It is fairly easy for me to "wing it" as you called it and meet some interesting girls. Many times those who are easiest and the most entertaining to meet are the ones that I can approach while still within an environment that I am some what comfortable in and just talk to them. At my school (or anywhere really, im not going to get into it), you really just have to go up and talk to them, if your somewhat interesting then it doesn't even matter what you talk about. I mean there are thousands of b.s. fluff topics about my university in general that I use to set up some kind of NLP rapport with them.

For instance, there is one computer lab that is just horrible, you can't even try to communicate with sign language without being kicked out, but it is the most convenient so a lot of people will go there unknowingly. I don't know how many times I would see 2 good looking girls try and chat and then have to leave. Well, fair enough. I get up too and walk out with them and join in with there complaints and end up showing them a far better unknown area with computers in my department building( a modern day heroic good looking s.o.b.; where I  know more people and can easily set up more casual encounters. If I eventually grow bored with them, they usually don't come back if I'm not there and I don't have to worry about it. or is that still shitting where you eat?

What the fuck is NLP rapport? I googled it and got something about mind reading..

Also.. That sounds like a lot of work for two girls who have boyfriends. Or am I just being a nerd dwelling retard for thinking that way?

You need to realize, any good looking girl is going to have some male figure who she is "talking" to. That should not phase anyone one bit. Quite simply there are NO fine ass girls that don't have men trying to hit on them are satellite around them. If you can go into it knowing that and assume they are some bitch niggas then who the fuck cares if they might have a  boyfriend, I guarantee you can get them to say "he's not the one" and then steal her. They not married or anything shit.

Even If you find out it's too much "work" to put in then at least you might be able to use them to meet more people or prove social value to other females.

Just so you know, I get the deal with hot girls, I am not coming from a jealousy model. I am more worried about this.

"hey girls durpa durpa" (for 30 minutes)
"oh btw I am married" (blue balls)

Again, maybe I am just being closed minded and I should be more social. (as opposed to being a little nerd cretin who crawls out of his basement in a trench coat)

I guess 30 min holds a different value with you where it seems like a waste of your time. Where as I can bullshit for 2 hours before class so it doesn't matter. Although I try to find out their relationship status within the first 15 and let her know I'm interested so I can dip the fuck out if I need too

Sounds good.

Next Question: What if they can't really speak English that well and are really shy.. What do?

Let's pretend I had this friend who really likes asian girls and the majority of them are stimulated by math homework and can barely say a few words beyond hi.
Have you ran into this?

Seems like the language barrier would be pretty challenging, but if you know they like math then there you go. You could also tell him to get a book on seductive body language or something too, since most communication can be relayed without words to begin with.

I would probably try and get them to tutor me or help me with some probablems that I already know how to do but pretend other wise. Then solve the shit and praise them and make them feel really good so they get comfortable. Eventually use the math as an intermediary to make some kind of corny relation to "equations" and sex.

ME + U= :)  IDK.

Math was an example, I meant shy girls with a language barrier. Just approaching them with a deep tone of voice and eye contact makes them wanna pee their pants and run away.

Why am I attracted to shy Asian woman, I have weirder fetishes then Morden.

EDIT:

I mean my friend.. Yea he is.

Hello.

I am trying to host a game but my router does not let me forward to the nine ports needed to host a nox game.
I also do not have the option to do port ##### - ######. In addition I don't know what to select out of the "http, imap, ping...so on."

Another thing to keep in consideration I can not use the imap...so on more than once. The moment I use it and try to make a new rule or
port forward it is removed from the list of options.

please i need help.
